“The America’s Cup: A Sailor’s View”—by John Rousmaniere, nationally prominent sailor and maritime author. The lecture is Wednesday, May 3 at 5:30pm. The presentation will be followed by a book signing.
Rousmaniere has written two histories of the America’s Cup and a biography of the yacht “America” (titled The Low Black Schooner) that he is currently updating with newly discovered facts about her story. John is also the author of numerous other books on sailing and maritime history, including The Annapolis Book of Seamanship (just published in its fourth edition); A Berth to Bermuda: One Hundred Years of the World’s Classic Ocean Race; Sleek: Classic Images from the Rosenfeld Collection; and, In a Class by Herself: The Yawl Bolero and the Passion for Craftsmanship, among others. His books Fastnet, Force 10 and After the Storm: True Stories of Disaster and Recovery at Sea have been hailed by critics as among the best of sea literature.
