From Baltimore to Central Texas, Eastern Shore native Arty Hill packs the bars and dance floors with his unique brand of modern honky tonk.
According to Vintage Guitar Magazine, Arty sings with an “ ‘everyman’ quality…reminiscent of Johnny Cash.” His songs – marrying the soul of classic country with the wry storytelling of Guy Clark and Townes Van Zandt – have been recorded by the Grammy-nominated Kenny and Amanda Smith Band, Alt-Country pioneers Jason & the Scorchers, Rockabilly Queen Bee Marti Brom, and Austin’s Texas Sapphires, among others.
“Words like beer-stained and whiskey-drenched don’t really do justice to the work of Arty Hill…He is one of country music’s most underrated songwriters.” – Country Music People
