Beauty and Bounty: The Eastern Shore Plein Air Agriculture Collection Exhibition is on view July 15 – 29 at the Academy Art Museum’s Selections Gallery. The exhibition showcases fifteen Plein Air paintings exploring farm life on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Artists Suzie Baker, Jill Basham, Zufar Bikbov, David R. Csont, Tarryl Gabel, Russell Jewell, Greg LaRock, Kathie Odom, Elise N. Philips, Jeremy Sams, Nancy Tankersley, Nancy Thomas, and Stewart Burgess White, created the paintings in the Plein Air tradition by visiting farms across the Eastern Shore and painting on site.
The exhibition tells the story of farm life on the Eastern Shore by documenting the ever-changing agricultural landscape and providing a window into a diverse industry that drives the local economy. Picturing a wide range of crops and farming activities, the paintings help viewers gain a better understanding of agriculture and strengthen ties between artists, farmers, and arts appreciators.
