On Thursday, August 8, at 6:00 p.m., the Easton branch of the Talbot County Free Library will host a reading, book sale, and signing by Earl Swift, author of “Chesapeake Requiem: A Year with the Watermen of Vanishing Tangier Island.” There will also be a reception in honor of the author.
“Chesapeake Requiem: A Year with the Watermen of Vanishing Tangier Island” recounts a year Swift spent living on Tangier and talking with the watermen and women of that fabled isle. Bloomberg called it “The best nonfiction book of 2018 …. A model for what serious reportage should be.” Swift has written seven books and hundreds of major features for newspapers and magazines. He is a fellow of Virginia Humanities at the University of Virginia.
