A diverse group of local artists will display their giclees at Candleberry Gallery from June 6 through 28. A giclee is a high-quality reproduction of an artist’s original piece of artwork, making artists’ work available in an additional way that can be more affordable.
You will see giclees of painting, photography, mixed media, hand-pulled serigraphs, and hand-cut paper creations in this exhibit. Artists Steve Bleinberger, Deborah Booth, Frank Brennan, Ann Farley, Judi MacDonald, David Murphy, Nancy O’Brien, Erick Sahler, Sean Wells, Joyce Zeigler, and more will share their artwork of maritime scenes and Chesapeake Bay icons. Many in this group were featured at the Annapolis Maritime Museum recently, so come see them closer to home!
The featured artist for June is award-winning Chesapeake Bay artist Steve Bleinberger, who uses watercolor to capture “the fluid ever-changing sea and sky conditions” that inspire him. Bleinberger grew up on the water near Annapolis, and has a great love for the beauty of the Cheapeake Bay waters, marshes, and unique boats.
Come meet Steve on Friday, June 17, at a reception from 3 to 5 pm. He will teach a fun class entitled “How to Paint a Shorescape in Watercolor” from 6 to 8 pm that same day. This class focuses on Steve’s personalized techniques and tips that will help make your next tidewater marsh scene even better. Painters of all levels are welcome. For $45, expert instruction, demonstration, and all materials are included (although attendees are welcome to bring their own paints if they wish). Visit www.bleinberger.com to learn more about Steve. Pre-registration is required for the class by calling 410-745-2420.
