Grant Lee Phillips

November 6, 2016 @ 7:00 pm

In a career defined by risk and reflection, songwriter Grant-Lee Phillips only just recently took on the biggest gamble of his life: making a move to Nashville…and with the wager comes his latest release, The Narrows.

Back in the ‘90s, he was known as the frontman of Grant Lee Buffalo, which toured with acts like R.E.M. and Pearl Jam and released four records full of thoughtful, intelligent rock, folk, and Americana. To an entirely new generation, however, Phillips is best known simply as Grant, the town troubadour in “Gilmore Girls.”

With his new album, PopMatters says “his wisdom is really starting to show. The 13 tracks on The Narrows are relaxed and have fresh takes on classic and contemporary folk and country, all guided by Phillips’ focused, tip-of-the-cap tenor, with just the right amount of gravel.”
