Heritage Concert Series Features Chris Noyes and Maggie Yacoub

April 23, 2021 @ 4:00 pm

As part of the Heritage Concert Series, Carpe Diem Arts has joined forces with Brookletts Place Talbot County Senior Center and the Talbot County Free Library to present this popular virtual concert series every fourth Friday of the month at 4 p.m. through June. The concerts will be presented via Zoom and Facebook Live and can be found at CarpeDiemArts.org/brookletts-place or facebook.com/carpediemarts2you/live.

This Friday, April 23 performances will kick off at 4:00 p.m. with a song from host Karen Somerville, accompanied by Joe Holt on piano. The first featured guest is Egyptian-American Maggie Yacoub whose diverse musical palette has been inspired by her passion for both Western and Eastern music, including pop, jazz, soul, and Arabic jazz fusion. Yacoub is currently working on a recording that will feature sounds and voices from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Egypt, India, the Balkan region, and Brooklyn.

Also, you can enjoy the talents of Chris Noyes who is known far and wide for her angelic voice and superb accompaniment on guitar and ukulele. Noyes will serenade us with a marvelous medley of songs and hauntingly beautiful melodies in celebration of our planet Earth. For those who enjoy singing, there will be plenty of opportunity to join in on a round and chorus or two.

Stay tuned for the upcoming performance the end of May that will feature Patricia Shih in honor of Asian-American Heritage Month and  Caron Dale in celebration of Jewish American Heritage Month, with a nod to Mother’s Day too!
