The Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and Historic St. Mary’s City will mark a major milestone in the construction of Maryland Dove at 10am on Monday, March 28, when the ship is scheduled to be moved by crane into the Miles River. Campus will open at 9am.
This is the first time the ship, which has been under construction in CBMM’s working Shipyard since 2019, will be in the water. It also signals the beginning of the end of the project, as the ship will stay in the water while the final stages of construction are finished. A final launch is anticipated for spring of this year.
