Annual Model Boat Show

November 9, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The 2019 Model Boat Show(MBS) will he held on Saturday, November 9th at the Oxford Community Center in conjunction with Waterfowl and the Oxford Firehouse Antiques Fair.
Roughly 45 nationally known boat modelers/ship artists from the Delmarva Peninsula and beyond are expected on-site. Ed Thieler, a well-known model boat artisan, facilitates scheduling the modelers and their displays. His appreciation of this modeler/artist community is the heart and soul of the festival.
The displays range from Chesapeake-style crafts such as skiffs, sailboats, crab and oyster boats, historical ships, motor boats, and much more. The techniques used to master-build these ships and boats range from established shipbuilding skills of over a century ago to more modern techniques such as photogrammetry. Some models and books will be for sale, and a craft or two and a couple of kits will be raffled off.

New this year we welcome to the OCC stage several area small museums.  Crisfield’s Tawes Historical Museum, Tilghman Watermen’s Museum, Cambridge’s Richardson Maritime Museum, and Oxford’s own Oxford Museum will feature displays highlighting the unique character of their corner of the Eastern Shore.

2019 sponsors are: Campbell’s Boatyards, Cutts and Case, Aloft Aerial Photography, Oxford Marina & Boatyard | A Safe Harbor Marina, Tidewater Times and The Talbot Spy.  This program is funded in part by a grant from the Talbot County Arts Council with revenues provided by the Maryland State Arts Council.
