Newspapers from the North and the South covered the American Civil War. And they reported it from two very different perspectives. This will be an in-depth visual journey showing how Confederate and Union newspapers reported the same events in the Civil War, yet differed greatly in their display and analysis of the battles fought and the political strategies employed. Images of rare Union and Confederate newspapers will be used as the vehicle to take the audience back to the Civil War as it was being fought with the end still undetermined.
For almost 50 years Dr. Stephen A Goldman has been a very serious collector of rare and early newspapers, building one of the largest collections of historical newspapers in private hands. He is the author or co-author of several books that use newspaper front pages to tell the story of a particular theme (Titanic Disaster , Wild West Outlaws, Civil War).
