Slaid Cleaves

May 6, 2018 @ 7:00 pm

The style of Slaid Cleaves may be rooted in country and traditional folk song, but it’s also deeply influenced by Chuck Berry, Bruce Springsteen, and Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The Austin-based singer/songwriter and guitarist got his start back in the ‘90s with the release of his breakthrough album No Angel Knows with Lucinda Williams’ former guitarist Gurf Morlix. The collection combined Slaid’s passion for folk songs, blues, and traditional country music into what’s now called Americana.

Since then, Slaid’s released a long series of critically acclaimed albums, garnering him Song of the Year at the Austin Music Awards for “Broke Down” as well as a growing national fan base.
