The Oxford Garden Club’s upcoming flower show celebrates the poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson through horticulture, design and botanical arts divisions. The show’s theme, “Poems and Posies” emphasizes one of Stevenson’s better-known books, “A Child’s Garden of Verses.” Published in 1885, Stevenson’s poems were written for children about childhood, play, and illness. The show is free and open to the public from 1 pm to 4 pm, Saturday, September 22, 2018 held at the Oxford Community Center.
Entrants follow specific rules for each class and division and relate their entries to a poem selected from “A Child’s Garden of Verses.” Within each division are several awards given by judges, plus a People’s Choice selected by the public. We encourage everyone visit the Oxford Community Center to see interesting array of plants and designs and submit your votes for the People’s Choice Award.
