Vance Gilbert

January 12 @ 8:00 pm

Praising his songs for never ducking hard truths or resorting to easy platitudes, the Boston Globe says Vance Gilbert’s “catchy, pop-friendly melodies support keenly crafted, hard-hitting lyrics. His guitar is supple, his milk-warm tenor honest and gently acrobatic.”

Over the years, his reputation for live performances that blend the hilarious with the heartfelt has generated a loyal fan base and many opportunities for him to share the stage with the likes of Arlo Guthrie, Anita Baker, Shawn Colvin, and even the late comedian George Carlin.

Gilbert’s diverse repertoire ranges from interpretations of classics by Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, and other jazz legends, to quirky original compositions like “Kiss the Bad Boys,” which evokes what might happen if Bootsy Collins and Bruce Springsteen were trapped in an elevator and decided to write a song together.
