Tilghman Watermen’s Museum Speaker Series

The Tilghman Watermen’s Museum Speaker Series will host Susan B.M. Langley, PhD, from the Maryland Historical Trust/MD SHPO, at the Tilghman Island Volunteer Fire Department. Dr. Langley will speak about the Ship Graveyards of Curtis Bay. In this presentation, Dr. Langley will look at the fascinating stories behind some of the otherwise unprepossessing hulks haunting Curtis Bay and Curtis Creek.
Susan Langley has directed the Maryland Maritime Archaeology Program for more than 28 years and serves as both the State Underwater Archaeologist and Dive Safety Officer. She has taught at numerous public and private colleges and universities, and she is currently an Adjunct Professor at St. Mary’s College of Maryland where she teaches an introduction to underwater archaeology, the anthropology of pirates and piracy, as well as a fiber, textiles and trade course.
