2025 Culinary Highlights

The food scene in Talbot County has received accolades in The Washington Post, the New York times, Washingtonian, and Food & Wine.  Here’s a few culinary highlights to explore in 2025. The James Beard Foundation recognized Bas Rouge Executive Chef Harley Peet as Best Chef:  Mid-Atlantic (DC< DE< MD< NJ< PA< VA), making Talbot County the first on Maryland’s Eastern Shore to boast this achievement. 

Talbot County continues to be a hotspot for food lovers, with restaurants rivaling those found in big cities.  Here’s a highlight of some of the newest offerings:

The Financier Chesapeake Bar & Grill offers a timeless taste of Maryland under the leadership of Chef Jordan Lloyd within the historic Robert Morris Inn. 

While already a staple in St. Michaels, Gina’s Café is bringing its seafood with a Tex-Mex twist to Tilghman Island, with the opening of Gina’s at the Bridge.

Healing Grounds Coffee Shop in St. Michaels is more then a coffee bar, it’s a sanctuary of positive energy to recharge your soul. 

San Miguels Mexican Food brings fresh, flavorful Mexican cuisine to the heart of St. Michaels. 

Talbot St. Tavern is bringing hand-crafted, classic pub fare using locally sourced ingredients to St. Michaels. 

Talbot County Travel Guide Scottish Highland Creamery Ice Cream

A long-running favorite, which has ranked as one of the country’s top five ice cream shops by Trip Advisor, is scooping from a new and beautifully renovated location.  You can now visit Scottish Highland Creamery within the two-story, circa 1878 Oxford Mews.

Lyon Rum Tasting Room

Windon Distilling / LYON RUM celebrated a decade in business as Maryland’s oldest rum producer with a newly expanded tasting room.  Just next door, the St. Michaels Winery will continue to create unique blends under its new ownership, who is embracing the tasting room’s proximity to the Chesapeake Bay. 

Talbot County’s newest wine, beer, and spirts store opened in Trappe, Maryland.  Cork & Bottle Trappe is conveniently located just off Route 50.  Their new delivery service covers all of Talbot County though, so no matter where you are staying, you can ensure the bar is stocked with your favorites (minimum purchase applies).
