Monumental Memories by artist Paton Miller April 25-May 30, 2026

Through this exhibit, Miller explores the transcendent point when a lifelong relationship begins between the artist and the canvas – raw emotion, life experiences, search, and struggle. Miller is a New York–based artist, born in Seattle and raised in Hawaii, who settled on the East End of Long Island after earning a scholarship to Southampton College. Early in his career, he spent over 20 years working in Fairfield Porter’s studio and became known for dreamlike paintings that blend primitive and contemporary elements through earthy palettes and layered techniques. With over 25 solo exhibitions and global recognition, he has been reviewed by The New York Times and Artforum.

Driftwood Brothers featuring Bernie Houston and Larry Ringgold

The exhibition unites two artists fascinated by driftwood and its sculptural possibilities, highlighting each artist’s distinct approach shaped by decades of exploration. Bernie Houston, an accomplished driftwood sculptor and graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design, has spent decades transforming found wood into sculptures that draw on the organic forms and textures of nature. Larry Ringgold was born and raised on the Chesapeake Bay, brings a different sensibility to driftwood sculpture, shaped by a lifelong connection to the water and the traditions of local watermen. Visitors will experience two interpretations of driftwood art—one grounded in the rhythms of nature, the other often playful and fantastical—both showing reverence for found materials and the Chesapeake landscape.
