What to Expect

On Nace’s Day, the Trappe community celebrates Nathaniel “Nace” Hopkins and his contribution to the area. After gaining freedom from slavery, Hopkins became dedicated to the education and spiritual life of his community. He established the first school for black children in Trappe, and played an important role in founding what is now known as Scotts United Methodist Church.

Minister Eddie Roberts, a descendant of Hopkins, will begin the celebration with a worship service, followed by a parade including classic cars, local groups, and bands. With the theme of “Mapping Our Way Forward,” this event seeks to commemorate the past while inspiring future generations.
