The Crab Claw
Known as Navy Point, the area where The Crab Claw Restaurant stands, was originally a marsh that was filled in with discarded oyster shells. The business started in the 1950’s as The Eastern Shore Clam Company which was a clam and oyster shucking house. Local watermen came in daily with their catch of oysters, clams or crabs. In 1965, owners Bill and Sylvia Jones turned it into a restaurant called The Crab Claw which instantly became a St. Michaels Landmark. The Crab Claw Restaurant is still operated by the same family to this day. Open seasonally, please confirm hours.

I have been to The Crab Claw a few times and it’s fine. The food is good but pricey. The service is not too good. You don’t get checked on for a long time and the food takes forever. The atmosphere is good. They do have some good spots near the windows where you can see boats and the bay. The place is fine, but there might be better options. 🦀
Jun 21, 2026 · Google Review⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ A fun seafood spot with a great waterfront atmosphere. Sitting outside by the marina while enjoying fresh seafood makes for a very relaxing experience. The food was good, but I wouldn’t drive several hours just to eat here again. Unfortunately, when we visited, they had run out of crabs, which was disappointing considering it’s one of the restaurant’s signature items. Overall, it’s a nice place if you’re already in St. Michaels, but I wouldn’t call it one of the best seafood restaurants I’ve been to. Still worth a visit for the location and atmosphere.
Jul 5, 2026 · Google ReviewAwesome atmosphere right on the water in St Michael’s but unfortunately that’s where it ends. It is very expensive for the frozen food that is prepared. Burger was tiny so wouldn’t recommend that and the salmon was very small and didn’t have a good taste. The fried crab ball was pretty good but again not worth the $30.
