The Crab Claw
Known as Navy Point, the area where The Crab Claw Restaurant stands, was originally a marsh that was filled in with discarded oyster shells. The business started in the 1950’s as The Eastern Shore Clam Company which was a clam and oyster shucking house. Local watermen came in daily with their catch of oysters, clams or crabs. In 1965, owners Bill and Sylvia Jones turned it into a restaurant called The Crab Claw which instantly became a St. Michaels Landmark. The Crab Claw Restaurant is still operated by the same family to this day. Open seasonally, please confirm hours.

Sadly you have very little time left to visit this Eastern Shore Gem, they are closing for good at the end of the season. Very sad!
Aug 5, 2026 · Google ReviewThis was a disappointing experience. We expected a wonderful crab cake at this location. It was listed as lump crab but mine was almost all claw meat. It was served with a large pile of French fries but a tiny portion of homemade coleslaw, which was delicious. A side of cole slaw should not be the same size as a container of tartar sauce. The meal was not worth the $35 price.
Aug 5, 2026 · Google ReviewVery disappointed in the food! I got the expensive fish platter and the fish was cold. Crab cakes had more filler than desired.
Jul 25, 2026 · Google ReviewThe food was okay we tried Maryland crab for the first time and it was okay there was a bad thunderstorm and took out the burners for a little bit so we got our food just in time the servers were very kind and were helping us with our first time along with my wife's aunt. The atmosphere in the restaurant was a cute little thing and is a great place to take your kids. We really enjoyed our time there.
Jul 20, 2026 · Google ReviewGreat place before or after visiting the Maritime Museum or just visiting St. Michaels Maryland. I ordered the crab cake with string beans and the vegetable of the day. Finally, I ordered the Smith Island cake. Everything was delicious and delightful. My waitress name was Riley.
Jul 17, 2026 · Google ReviewNice waterfront outdoor seating. Tasty oysters, crabs, crab cakes. Crab claw ale was good. Server (Tay?) was very attentive and kind.
