Bistro St. Michaels was yet another restaurant that exceeded our expectations in St. Michaels. The service struck a nice balance between professional and relaxed. Our servers worked as a team throughout the evening, keeping water glasses full, clearing plates promptly, and making sure everything flowed smoothly without ever feeling rushed. I started with the Duck Confit ร l'Orange. Personally, I would have preferred the skin just a bit crispier, but that's a minor observation. The duck itself was wonderfully tender and flavorful, and the orange sauce complemented it beautifully. My wife ordered the Shrimp and Grits but asked if they could substitute the truffle grits from another dish. They happily accommodated the request, and our server even commented that she thought it was a great idea. It's always nice when a restaurant is willing to make a reasonable adjustment and genuinely seems excited about it. For my entrรฉe, I chose the Lamb au Poivre. The lamb was cooked very well, but surprisingly it wasn't the star of the plate. The creamy polenta was. I always appreciate when chefs move beyond the predictable mashed potatoes and pair a dish with something that better complements the flavors. The first bite of that polenta was one of those rare "put your fork down, close your eyes, and enjoy the moment" experiences. It was rich, creamy, and absolutely unforgettable. I also ordered a side of fries, expecting a modest portion. Instead, a generous plate of hand-cut fries arrived. They were clearly double-blanched, fried in quality oil, perfectly crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, and seasoned just right. There were far more than we could finish, but they were difficult to stop eating. For dessert, my wife ordered the evening's specialโa poached peach filled with mascarpone. Like everything else we'd enjoyed that evening, it was beautifully prepared, balanced, and an excellent way to finish the meal. If you're visiting St. Michaels, don't overlook Bistro St. Michaels. You may need to park on the street if you're not within walking distance, but it's absolutely worth the short walk. Thoughtful service, creative cooking, and several dishes that we'll remember long after the trip made this one of our favorite meals in town.
Jul 9, 2026 ยท Google ReviewWe had the pleasure of dining at Bistro St. Michaels during our stay at The Oaks, and it was one of the highlights of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were charmed by the restaurant's inviting atmosphere. Every dish was delicious and the service was fantastic. The shrimp and grits were perfectly executed – rich, creamy, and bursting with flavor. The fried green tomatoes topped with fresh crab were beautifully crisp with a delicate sweetness that complemented the crab beautifully. For our mains, their famous braised beef short rib was absolutely sublime – fork-tender with deep, complex flavors and gorgeous presentation. The pan-seared tilefish with red quinoa and broccolini highlighted how fresh and simple ingredients can really shine. We couldn't resist ending with the bread pudding ร la mode, and we're so glad we did. Warm, indulgent, and drizzled with butterscotch sauce, it was the perfect finale to an outstanding meal. Bistro St. Michaels truly captures the essence of exceptional Eastern Shore dining with fresh ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and warm hospitality. We can't wait to return on our next visit to the area. Highly recommended!

Jun 6, 2026 ยท Google ReviewWhat a beautifully curated and delicious experience! The chefs counter dining experience was amazing, watching the precision and detail of the back of house was so enjoyable. All the team members we interacted with were lovely and knowledgeable. Their small but mighty menu was the true star, steak frites out of this world. Would highly recommend for any special occasions or intimate date night. Cheers!
