There's a good bit of history and knowledgeable staff. Our school age children enjoyed it. I think you'd spend between 30 minutes to an hour here. Just be aware there are no bathrooms.
Jun 17, 2025 · Google ReviewAlthough it was closed for the season (late November), we enjoyed reading about the history of this amazing mill! I highly recommend you make a little detour if the highway to see this!
Nov 26, 2024 · Google ReviewWe home school our kids and decided to take a field trip today to learn a little bit about American history. This place was truly amazing. I learned as much as the kids did. Yes this mill is still fully operational. They grind floor the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month starting in May.
Oct 17, 2022 · Google ReviewFantastic historical landmark we just happened upon taking a detour. This place is the oldest operating grist mill in the US and oldest commercial building in the state of MD. Basically an operational museum, you can tour the facility and buy fresh ground cornmeal and grits. Highly recommend a stop here.
Aug 4, 2019 · Google ReviewGreat free experience especially for homeschooling families! George Washington was given flour from this mill! We spent 1.5 hrs here learning about the mill, going through the interactive activities they give to students and buying flour!!
