rgR638YJMy wife had mentioned that she had not been to St. Michaels in a very long time. I decided surprising her with a trip there was a great way to celebrate our anniversary. After a web search, I settled on The Old Brick Inn as the place to stay. My decision proved wise. They actually have several buildings, including the Kemp House in which we were assigned a room. The building is quite old. I think it was built around 1807. It has been well preserved and had reasonable amenities. Our room on the second floor – Monarch Landing – was a little small but typical for that era. It had an effective window air conditioner and a mini-fridge. There was a powder room and a separate room for the shower. Both were rather small but easily had room for one person at a time. There was deck immediately adjacent exclusively for our use with chairs and a table. The bed was comfortable. There was only one small chair so staying in the room a lot was not that convenient for more than one person. There was a TV using Roku included. I was not familiar with Roku so had trouble finding a station we wanted to watch. Once we did, it was a for-pay station. I tried casting a show from my smart phone but could not get it to work correctly, getting either the video or the audio but never both. Probably operator error. :-) Breakfast was included but was in the main building named, appropriately, Old Brick Inn, located a short one and half blocks away. The breakfast was excellent. The registration staff (Maria) on our first day was very personable and helpful. She doubled as the waitress our first morning. On our second and last day Kyle was our waitress and just as pleasant and helpful as Maria had been. Andrew was assisting in the kitchen that morning but readily came out to assist with a request we had and to confirm our checking out. All in all, they made our anniversary a wonderful experience!

The room was comfortable and well-appointed, making for a truly relaxing getaway. Every detail was handled with care, making our visit to St. Michaels memorable.
