If you are looking for a relaxing, peaceful and truly special getaway, then we would highly recommend the Sandaway Suites and Beach in Oxford, MD. From the time we entered our Deluxe Waterfront 2nd Floor Suite, we both were in awe of the incredible water view from Room 110. Not only is there a spacious sitting area in the room in front of large windows overlooking the water, but there is also a private screened in porch to sit in rockers and a sofa to enjoy these amazing views both day and night. We really appreciated having the screens surrounding the porch so that we could still sit outside in the evenings after dinner and enjoy glasses of wine without worrying about bug bites! In the room itself, the king bed was very clean and comfortable every night. We took full advantage of the bathroom layout in this suite where there is a separate area with a sink and mirror and a sliding door dividing the room with the shower, bathtub, sink and toilet. It was convenient to have the coffee maker and mini fridge available in the room to keep drinks cold. We looked forward to the unique basket delivery every morning with coffee and a variety of treats. This worked out extremely well for us because we could have breakfast on our schedule and relax at our own pace before getting ready to go out for the day. We felt that this service was such a nice touch and just one of the many things that sets Sandaway far apart from any ordinary place to stay. It was clear to us that the team at Sandaway goes above and beyond for their guests. For meals near the Sandaway, we definitely recommend experiencing Doc’s Sunset Grille and a stop at the Scottish Highland Creamery. Although, at the time of our mid-September 2026 visit, Doc’s was only full-service restaurant open in Oxford, we found that there are plenty of excellent options for lunch and dinner in nearby Easton, St. Michaels, and Trappe. It is lots of fun to take the Oxford Bellevue ferry with your car and drive to St. Michaels for lunch or dinner. Everything was just so perfect during our stay that we already can’t wait to return to Sandaway again soon!

This was our first visit to the Sandaway and I can honestly say that it is one of our new favorite places to stay. The property is beautiful, with views of the Tred-Avon river and very well appointed rooms. You will feel welcomed from the start of your stay. There was literally a bag that said "welcome" and was filled with snacks and drinks and helpful information. Every morning you will be treated to a basket of coffee and goodies outside your door. My husband and I enjoyed exploring the area, then coming back and sitting in the Adirondack chairs by the river and the porch connected to our room. They are very considerate of their guests comfort. As we checked in Ben told us to let him know if we needed anything. It had gotten a little chilly during our stay and Amber called to see if we were comfortable in our room. We were.. The bed was quite comfortable and we really appreciated the roomy wine refrigerator instead of the usual hotel mini fridge that won't hold much.||We left the Sandaway feeling relaxed and refreshed. We will be back!

My wife and I stayed at Sandaway Suites & Beach for Ironman Maryland 2026 and loved our stay! Ben, the owner, was such a lovely host and made our stay extra memorable. ||||The property is gorgeous and at the end of a pennisula in Oxford. The sunset each night was beautiful, and the property has lots of seating so you can enjoy the sunset views. You can also swim from the beach and enjoy the bay. ||||The owners deliver a cute basket of breakfast goodies and fresh coffee every morning. They even had good gluten-free treats for my wife who is celiac. Also, they incredibly left out a basket post-Ironman race with snacks and electrolytes, which was an incredibly sweet gesture. ||||The rooms are a bit older in terms of style, but it was very quaint and comfortable. The room had a gorgeous view of the water, the bathroom had a great tub for a post-race soak, and the bed was very comfy. We also enjoyed our morning coffee on our little screened-in porch. ||||The town of Oxford was also very cute. We enjoyed walking to the local coffee spot in the morning and the ice cream shop after dinner. ||||The Ironman logistics: it is about a 28-30min drive from Sandaway to Ironman Village. Our room had a microwave and a small fridge for meal prep. There isn't much in terms of groceries in Oxford, but there's plenty in Cambridge. There was only one restaurant open in Oxford in September so dining options were limited but we enjoyed Doc's. Great views, good food, and even options for carb loading and my celiac wife.

Absolutely adorable inn on the water. The staff were wonderful, impeccable service, and the porches off the ‘sea facing’ rooms were beautiful. Lots of outdoor sitting areas made it the perfect cosy visit even in the rain. The wonderful coffee and pastries in the morning were such a nice touch!

Ben, his family, and his team go above and beyond to anticipate every guest’s needs. So much thought has gone into countless little details, all designed to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. The location itself is truly exceptional, with direct access to the bay, in a beautiful little quintessentially American town with its own ice cream shop and café. I stayed here while taking part in IRONMAN Maryland, and the accommodation proved to be a perfect base: the event venue was easy to reach, yet I could stay somewhere peaceful and away from all the hustle and bustle. With direct access to the water, it was also an ideal place to prepare for the swim. Overall, I had a wonderful and very relaxing stay. I cannot say enough good things about this special place and would return without hesitation.

We had a wonderful weekend at Sandaway Suites. This quaint historic mansion and cottage property, converted into approximately 18 accommodations, sits directly on the beautiful Tred Avon River. It was exactly what we wanted: quiet, comfortable and far removed from the noise and congestion of Northern Virginia.||||We enjoyed morning coffee on the porch and in the Adirondack chairs overlooking the river, peaceful evening walks through Oxford, and a lovely sunset dinner at Doc’s Sunset Grille. One evening, we relaxed together in Sandaway’s cozy common den, with its sofas and small wet bar. The entire property felt warm, intimate and wonderfully peaceful.||||Sandaway is also conveniently located for excursions to Cambridge and St. Michaels. On our way home, we took the Oxford–Bellevue Ferry, spent Sunday walking around St. Michaels and visited the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum.||||The entire weekend was wonderful. Sandaway is a charming place to unplug, unwind and enjoy quiet time together. We highly recommend it and would definitely return.||

This is going onto our list of favorite places to stay. There were so many thoughtful touches – they thought of everything! We stayed in 102, which has an enclosed porch and view of the water. We also caught the ferry right outside the hotel to do a lovely 20-mile bike ride around St. Michaels and Eaton. We would absolutely stay here again.
