Spring in Talbot County - A Spectacular Time to Visit
Talbot County is beautiful any time of year, but Spring is a spectacular time to visit. After a brief winter’s rest, Talbot County is stretching its arms, dusting itself off, and awakening for the season. Here are five ways to enjoy a spring day in Talbot County.
Stop and Smell the Flowers

Talbot County is known for its beautiful gardens and vibrant Spring blooms. Start your day in downtown Easton, where the award-winning Talbot Historical Society Gardens are ready to greet you. Featuring mature boxwood, herb gardens, as well as fruit and flowering trees, the gardens are maintained by the Talbot County Garden Club. The club also hosts a variety of events throughout the year for veteran or budding flower enthusiasts, including a Floral Fête, a celebration of floral inspiration on April 22. On Saturdays, stop by the Easton Farmers Market for some fresh flowers to take home.

Enjoy the blooms along Oxford Road as you take a leisurely drive to the Town of Oxford. Grab supplies from the Oxford Market for a picnic in Oxford Town Park, which overlooks the Tred Avon River. After lunch, stretch your legs with a stroll through town to take in the beautiful private gardens that are peppered throughout. Then, hop aboard the Oxford Bellevue Ferry to enjoy a ride upon the Tred Avon River before heading over to St. Michaels.
Shop 'til You Drop

Once in St. Michaels, be ready to shop ‘til you drop on Talbot Street. As the town’s main thoroughfare, Talbot Street offers a collection of independently owned shops and boutiques showcasing jewelry, home furnishings, clothing, and houseware. It’s the perfect spot to map out your next tablescape, find a one-of-a-kind dress, or flowers for the front porch. On Saturdays, the St. Michaels Farmers Market offers a producers-only market where everything is local.

Talbot Street is speckled with a variety of locally owned restaurants, so for dinner, dine al fresco or head to the marina to take in a water view with your meal. Enjoy the bounty of the Chesapeake Bay paired with Maryland’s official state cocktail – the Orange Crush.
Treat Yourself

After a great meal, who doesn’t need a sweet treat? Indulge in a homemade chocolate creation at Arnaiz Chocolat, grab a scoop from JoJo’s Ice Cream, or explore the wall of shakes at Justine’s Ice Cream Parlour. Departing St. Michaels, head south on Route 33 to the historic American waterfront village of Tilghman Island. This 20-minute drive is an experience unto itself. As you cross the Tilghman Island Drawbridge, check out the Tilghman’s Pride Mural. If you didn’t grab a sweet before leaving St. Micheals, stop in the Tilghman Island Country Store. This down-home stop is known for its welcoming charm – and its desserts. As Tilghman Island is only 3 miles long and 1 mile across at its widest point, there’s plenty of time to explore and take in the scenery before ending your day by taking in a Chesapeake Bay sunset.
