The Ebenezer Theater and Prager Family Center for the Arts is a beautifully renovated 19th century venue in downtown Easton with 24K gold leaf details, a pressed tin ceiling, gothic arches and original stained-glass windowpanes, details that make this a resplendent place.
But even more impressive than all of the amazing architectural elements is the state-of-the-art sound system that has been meticulously restored, making this one of the Mid-Atlantic’s finest performance venues.
With just 180 seats, you’re guaranteed to score a good one. The theater has emerged as a top destination for artists looking to connect with audiences in a personal way and for audiences looking for an intimate, impactful experience. The Ebenezer hosts many events from concerts to films, performance art pieces to dance performances. Scanning its lineup is cultural catnip for those in the know.
One of the greatest highlights of this theater is its investment and commitment to the Montero Project. This singular music series, which debuted in 2022 brings world-class musicians, such as Yuja Wang, the transformational classical pianist from Beijing, China, to downtown Easton, Maryland.
This program is helmed by acclaimed Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Montero, who played at President Barack Obama’s inauguration. Funded by the Prager Family Center for Arts, this prestigious program draws top musical performers from across the globe to perform here in Talbot County, thanks in large part to Montero’s extraordinary reputation.
But it’s not just international superstars that make the Ebenezer so special. The theater is also famously welcoming to high caliber regional talent.
The theatre is home base for Chesapeake Music, an organization founded in 1985 that brings a wide range of concerts options to the venue, including string quartets, solo violinists, cellists, and flutists. Chesapeake Music hosts the wildly popular Chesapeake Bay Chamber Music Festival held each June at the Ebenezer Theater.
